Cornerstone Church Statement of Faith

We believe…

Both Old and New Testaments to be the inspired, infallible authoritative Word of God.
II Timothy 3.16, II Peter 1.21

That God is the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ; He is the one and only True God—all knowing, all powerful, all present—complete in Himself, having always existed, ever active in the universe and involved in the lives of all men.
            Psalm 90.2, Isaiah 43.10, Colossians 1.1-2

The Lord Jesus to be the only begotten Son of God—truly God, truly Man; born of the virgin, died on the cross for the sins of mankind, raised from the dead, and ascended to the right hand of God.
          Matthew 1.23, John 1.14 and 3.16, I Corinthians 15.3-4, Hebrews 7.26 and 9.28, Acts 1.9-11

The Holy Spirit as the divine third person of the Trinity, God as Spirit.
            Matthew 28.19, John 14.16, Acts 13.1-2, Romans 8.14-16 26-28

The Holy Trinity to be God revealing Himself in three Divine Persons, each distinct in office from the others, yet perfectly one; constituting one God and not three Gods.
            Matthew 28.19, Luke 3.22, John 14.9, 16 and 17.3

Salvation has been provided through the shed blood of Jesus and obtained by grace wherein one enters into a covenant relationship with God.
            Luke 8.6, Acts 4.14, Ephesians 2.8-10, Isaiah 53.1-10, I Thessalonians 5.23, Hebrews 4.2

Divine healing was provided to the believer through Christ's work on the cross. We believe it is God's will for us to be healed in our spirit, soul, and body.
            Isaiah 53.4-5, Matthew 8.17, Acts 10.38, I Peter 2.24

That the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is for every believer, distinct from salvation. All the gifts of the Spirit manifest for the purpose of meeting the needs of the people.
            Acts 1.4-8 & 2.4, Joel 2.28, I Cor. 14.2,4,5,39; Luke 24.49; I Corinthians 12.1-11 & 14.26-40

Water baptism is for all believers and is by immersion. It symbolizes being buried with Christ into death of self, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead, we too should walk in newness of life.
          Mark 16.16, Matthew 28.19, Acts 2.38, Romans 6.4-5, Colossians 2.14

The Lord's Supper with the bread and fruit of the vine being symbolic of the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
          Luke 22.19, I Corinthians 11.17-30, II Peter 1.4

Every believer should actively seek to praise and worship God both individually and corporately.
          Psalm 8.2, 63.4, 68.26; Isaiah 61.3; Hebrews 10.1 and 13.15; James 5.13; Romans 12.1
