The 14 Outreach Opportunities of Cornerstone Church
Prison and Jail
Cornerstone has teams that go into the prison and jails throughout the week to conduct Worship services, Bible studies and visits for counsel and encouragement to those that are incarcerated. LIFE Center
Our LIFE Center Food Pantry was developed to fill a need in our community. Almost weekly the church was being asked for assistance with bills or other needs, and as much as we wanted to, there was no way to help every individual. That is when we decided to help with groceries. By helping with a need, such as food, it allows money in people’s budget to be used in other manners. Our pantry distributes food on a monthly basis to Chillicothe, Linneus and other surrounding towns. We supply approximately 1200 people with about a week’s worth of groceries. We always need volunteers to help get food ready and to pass out the food. If you would like to be involved in this ministry, or would like more information, please contact, Jon Martin at 247-3695.
Helping Hands
This ministry is designed to help people in need, such as disabled, elderly, widows, single women, etc. Our goal is to lend a helping hand in the area of small home repairs or minor automobile issues. This team will work on an as needed basis. If you have the ability of fixing things, and would like to be a part of reaching others by serving them in this way, then contact Joe Ward at 946-4353 or 247-0782.
STREET Reach
At Cornerstone Church we have a passion to reach a person from every street in Chillicothe. This is a plan to do just that! This team is made up of a group of individuals that have the gift of evangelism and enjoy going door-to-door, doing surveys or other types of similar outreaches. “MIA” Team
It takes everyone doing their part for the church to function properly. When one falls away, the body of Christ misses the unique gift that God has equipped that person with. This ministry reaches out to those that are Missing in Action through a simple phone call or a card of encouragement. If this sounds like something that you would like to be a part of then contact Joan Hopper at 646-2191.
Servant Evangelism
This outreach is an awesome opportunity to show God’s love in a practical way. This team will meet at different times throughout the year and do various random acts of kindness. Some of them might include giving out hot chocolate in a parking lot on a cold winter day, or giving a bottle of cold water on a hot summer day, or they might go rake leaves in the fall or scoop a sidewalk that is covered with snow. It’s going to be exciting to see what they will come up with. We don’t just want to say God loves you, we want to show you! Care team
When one suffers we all suffer. Stephanie Thieme will be leading this compassionate team of individuals who will reach out to our church family during the loss of a loved one, or after an illness or hospital stay, by providing meals and/or a funeral dinner for the family or individual. If you would like to provide a meal for someone, or help serve at a dinner, then we would welcome you as a part of this group. Please contact the church office if you would like to participate.

Nursing Home /Shut-Ins
This ministry is to be a blessing to those that can no longer live without assistance and are confined to a nursing home or are homebound. On a weekly basis, a team of caring and compassionate people will bring joy, love, encouragement and God’s Word through visitation and Bible studies. If you could see yourself ministering to the elderly or homebound in this way then contact Don and Lorraine Odendaal 707-0835.
Welcome Team
As Cornerstone continues to grow we want to be warm and hospitable. Every week we have guests that visit our church. We like to show them our appreciation by delivering them something freshly baked, maybe a plate of cookies or a loaf of bread. If perhaps they live out of town we will call them and express our gratitude that they worshipped with us. If your gift is hospitality, or you like to bake, then this is the outreach for you! CITY Changers
What a blessing it is to live in a City that is growing and takes pride in how it looks and what it does. Chillicothe is a community that is safe and friendly; it also provides employment, great schools and has many more wonderful features. This ministry is a way we can be a light and give back. We find out through discussions with city officials about what our town needs done to make it a better place. We offer volunteer man hours to help accomplish the goal. The “FUN” Team
There are a lot of events that take place in our community and we like being a part of them. This ministry will bring life to the party! We will provide our bounce house, balloons, games, face painting and a team of enthusiastic, kid-loving people to show God’s love in a way that will put a smile on your face. Bussing For Jesus
There are so many kids in our community and the surrounding counties that may never hear the words of Jesus and about how much He loves them. Most are hindered from going to church because of transportation issues. We want to remove that barrier! We have busses that are currently in operation on Wednesday nights. They go out in our town but also, Chula, Meadville, Brookfield, Braymer and Tina Avalon. Our vision is to expand even farther and add Sunday mornings to our route. This requires drivers! This is an excellent way to make a difference in a young person’s life and give them the opportunity to live a life devoted to Jesus! BIG Events
Two or three times a year we will do a BIG outreach to our community. This kind of event requires a lot of organizing, planning and usually a ton of people willing to get in and do whatever it takes! Watch the planner for these kinds of events and where you can help!
Missions - Local / Global
Jesus commands us to go to all the nations and that is what we are doing! Every year we lead groups into various parts of the world to share the Gospel and to train other believers. If leaving the country isn’t’ something you are interested in, then we also have mission trips within the United States that you can be a part of. Just keep your eye on the planner for upcoming opportunities for you to go!
