I have always felt called to help people in need, most importantly, feeding people in need. No one should ever have to experience true hunger. Volunteering at the LIFE Center Food Pantry has given me an opportunity to do something about my desire to help feed the hungry. There are people right here in our community – families, children, elderly, neighbors, co-workers, that rely on the food from the LIFE Center.
When the pantry lost its biggest supplier, which cut food supplies so drastically people were turned away, it devastated me. Through a lot of prayer, and hearing a sermon on spiritual gifts, this book idea emerged. “If I Only Had a Pet Kangaroo” is a story I wrote a few years ago based on a reccurring dream that seemed so real, so fun, so child-like, it needed to be shared. This fundraiser is about being obedient to God and what I feel He wants me to do. The joining of so many others’ gifts has made this book possible and made a way that everyone can help support the LIFE Center ministry of feeding the hungry in our community.

We all enjoy buying gifts for the children in our lives, and the money spent on doing so is already built into about everyone’s budget. We don’t have to look for ways to afford donating, just consider making more meaningful purchases. Buying this book is not about me or any of the others that helped with the project. It is a way for all of us to come together and make a difference in our community. Children will enjoy the story, and you will too, knowing people in need are receiving food from your purchase. Thank you for helping feed the hungry! Hollie Bernskoetter, Author
